About Our Program

Political refugees and economic migrants are a polarizing issue in the US and abroad. In the summer of 2019, 13 students from San Jose State traveled with journalism professor Diane Guerrazzi to examine how Greece and Italy are affected by migration, in a study-abroad program dubbed “The Changing Face of Europe.”   Students spoke with migrants, refugees, professors, aid workers, human rights experts, law enforcement officials, government leaders, business people and  everyday citizens.  The students produced podcasts, photo essays, video stories, journalistic articles and research papers.  Soon, they will produce a half-hour television special, reporting from the refugee perspective, called, “As the World Sees Us.”
